Waking up to gray skies, muddy puddles and flooded roads is enough to suck your daily outfit motivation. And honestly, Indian downpour can be really cruel on your fashion. However, the right choice of fabric and footwear along with the correct blend of accessories will help you dodge your puddles.
Hues for the season:
Bright hues of Indigo, green and blue are must haves for this season. Vibrant colors (of course our most talked about NEON trend) along with light shades of fuchsia pink and soft pastels of pink, orange and peach are also good to go colors for the shower. And if nothing else, don’t forget a perfect “Black on Black” is always a savior.
Denims are a big NO!! (I am sure the horrid humidity along with heavy downpour makes you worry about drying of your denims every time it gets wet). Blended fabrics of polynylon and cotton are ideal. Avoid using crepe and chiffon clothes since they lose their sheen once they become wet. Silk and rayon also make a popular choice during this season adding depth to the hues with variances in the color palette which is otherwise not seen. (Ah, a textile engineer finally speaks!)
Style it up!
Fashion in the rains can be as simple as a well-placed pair of wellies, a pop of color on a raincoat, or a perfectly tailored trench coat. And, of course your Umbrella!
